The Near Miss/Observation nominations submitted in August were sent to all managers with any names and sites references removed so that they could vote for their favourites. The winners were decided after totalling the votes.
Positive Intervention of the Month August:
Billy McBride, M3SM
“Whilst driving through site tonight I noticed other contractor ops augering in a location we had ducts/cables close by so I asked engineer to check the permit and to see if they scanned and marked the area, which they hadn’t.”
“I explained that it was not the supervisor’s fault but recommended that their permit was suspended and asked the gang to stop works until it was surveyed and marked out. This is a close call and should be raised by Mway to highlight potential dangers with issuing blue permits.”
Billy McBride was awarded a £25 lovetoshop voucher for submitting the positive intervention.
Near Miss of the Month August:
Anonymous operative on the MSM
“Van came around roundabout and cut across 3 lanes to get into access. I reported the incident.”
Because the near miss was submitted anonymously, the £15 value of the lovetoshop voucher was added to the Mway charity pot.
