Health and Safety

The Near Miss/Observation nominations submitted in June were sent to all managers with any names and sites references removed so that they could vote for their favourites. The winners were decided after totalling the votes.

Positive Intervention of the Month June:

Stephen Shephard

“Fibre sharps were left on site, so I removed the sharps and reported them via Balfour Beatty app as well as this raising this observation.” Stephen was awarded a £25 lovetoshop voucher for his positive intervention.

Stephen was handed his award by Darren Rickaby.

Near Miss of the Month June:

Anonymous Jackson Civils on the M3SM

“Whilst working on a lighting column, a member of the workforce received an electric shock from contact with the column. It was then noticed that there was continuous arcing of electricity from the column to the arm of the HIAB. After making the column safe that was being worked upon, all work in the vicinity was suspended.”

Because this Near Miss was submitted anonymously by a member of the Jackson Civils team, the £15 voucher amount was added to the Mway Comms charity pot.
